Not a Very Happy Birthday!

I have been away from the 'blogosphere' for a few days because I've been feeling really terrible.  The feeling is best described as the worst sea-sickness in history meets the worst hang-over in history.  For three days at a time I can't lift my head from the pillow nor hold down food.. so I end up feeling horribly weak.

On Saturday (which happened to be my birthday)  the whole cycle kicked off again and I ended up seeing a Doctor in A+E.  She has told me that I've got Labrynthitis.  Now I'm on some pretty strong medication and the world is looking a better place again.

This evening I had my first food for three days.  I didn't fancy any of the 'seasoned and textured' food that was in the fridge so my sister brought round a tin of Chicken soup.  It was just what my palate was craving.  It also brought back loads of memories of eating tins of tomato and chicken soup when I was ill as a kid.  Mum used to make up a pretty tray and bring it to me in bed, then sit chatting to me as I ate it.  I was only allowed downstairs for a few hours after lunch so that the bed could 'air' - then back to bed for a good night's sleep.

Good nights' sleep are not a problem at the moment - these tablets make me seriously dopey!

  2. Gosh Jan, how awful. I've not come across this one before so I've googled it! I'm so glad the medication is doing its thing and you are feeling a little better.
Soup is a good thing when your not feeling well.
    Anyway, Happy Birthday!

  3. I hope you feel better soon. I hadn't heard of this before. Take care and know that if I were your neighbor...I would bring you a bowl of chicken soup. When my husband died, a neighbor left a container of chicken soup at my door.....nothing like it for comfort and love. Balisha

  5. Oh no, being unwell is never good but it's extra bad on a birthday. Hope you are feeling better soon.

  6. Happy belated birthday. Hope you're feeling better very soon. Chicken soup always seems to hit the spot when illness strikes.

  7. Happy belated birthday, may be you can have a late celebration when you are better. Isn't funny how somethings trigger a childhood memory. Even now as adults if any of my big three are poorly they will make or better still get someone else to make them home made vegetable soup it must be our equivalent to a Jewish mummers chicken soup. It cures all ailments.
